Delete Your Account

We are sorry to see you go. This page explains how to delete your Halley account and what happens to your data when you do.
1. How to Delete Your Account (In-App)
You can delete your account directly from the Halley app:
- Open the Halley app and log in to your account.
- Go to Settings (tap the gear icon on your profile page).
- Scroll down and tap “Delete Account”.
- Read the confirmation message explaining what will be deleted.
- Tap “Confirm Delete” to proceed.
Your account deletion request will be processed immediately.
2. Manual Deletion via Email
If you are unable to access the app or prefer to request deletion manually, you can email us:

Please include the email address associated with your Halley account. We will verify your identity and process the deletion request within 7 business days.
3. What Data Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:
- Profile information: Your display name, bio, interests, preferences, and all profile details.
- Photos: All profile photos are deleted from our servers (AWS S3).
- Matches and conversations: Your match history and all messages are deleted. Other users will no longer see your profile or previous messages.
- Swipe history: All records of your swipe activity are removed.
- Location data: Any stored location information is deleted.
- Push notification tokens: Your device tokens are removed from Firebase.
- Account credentials: Your authentication data is removed from Supabase.
4. Deletion Timeline
30-day deletion period: After you confirm account deletion, your data will be fully purged from our systems within 30 days. During this period, your account is immediately deactivated and invisible to other users, but the data has not yet been permanently erased from all backups and systems.
If you change your mind within this 30-day window, contact us at support@halley.love and we may be able to recover your account.
5. Data Retained for Legal and Safety Purposes
In certain circumstances, we may retain limited data beyond the 30-day deletion period as required by law or for safety purposes:
- Reports and investigations: If your account was involved in a safety report or active investigation, relevant records may be retained to support the investigation or comply with law enforcement requests.
- Legal obligations: Data may be retained to comply with applicable Malaysian laws, including the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, or to respond to valid legal processes.
- Fraud prevention: Basic account identifiers (e.g., hashed email) may be retained to prevent banned users from creating new accounts.
Retained data is kept securely and is only accessed when necessary for the stated purposes.
