6. Real-World Meeting Safety Tips

When you decide to meet someone from Halley in person, your safety comes first. Follow these tips:

  • Meet in public: Always meet in a well-lit, public place such as a cafe, restaurant, or shopping mall. Avoid going to someone's home or a secluded location for a first meeting.
  • Tell a friend: Let a trusted friend or family member know who you are meeting, where, and when. Share your live location with them if possible.
  • Arrange your own transport: Drive yourself or use your own Grab/ride-hailing service. Do not rely on your date for transportation.
  • Stay sober: Keep your wits about you. Avoid excessive alcohol or accepting drinks from strangers.
  • Trust your instincts: If something feels wrong, leave. You do not owe anyone an explanation. Your safety is more important than politeness.
  • Video call first: Consider having a video call before meeting in person to verify the person matches their profile.
  • Do not share financial information: Never send money or share banking details with someone you have met online.
